2020-11-09 05:23:06 UTC

> isnt 7.62x51 what AK's shoot? or is that 7.62x39?
@mongo Aks use the 7.62x39mm vround which is an intermediate cartridge

2020-11-09 05:23:25 UTC

ahhhh

2020-11-09 05:24:42 UTC

as for the Halo rifle thing, my point still stands that its impressive that they were able to design and build a rifle capable of firing what is essentially a Mosin round with minimal recoil, although granted it is 500 years into the future

2020-11-09 05:24:56 UTC

yeah

2020-11-09 05:25:13 UTC

but the spartans are also spartans so i'd say recoil is irrelevant to them

2020-11-09 05:25:25 UTC

yup

2020-11-09 05:25:57 UTC

one thing im confused about is why they dont have some kind of pistol carbine for the Magnum yet

2020-11-09 05:26:02 UTC

I wonder if Spartans have a different variant of the rifle while the marines use something else

2020-11-09 05:26:05 UTC

it certainly wouldnt be hard

2020-11-09 05:26:13 UTC

> I wonder if Spartans have a different variant of the rifle while the marines use something else
@Phoenix 3-1 nope, its the same

2020-11-09 05:26:26 UTC

ah

2020-11-09 05:26:35 UTC

I out of date on my halo lore

2020-11-09 05:26:37 UTC

i mean spartans are what, 8 feet tall or something, they need bigger equipment so they probably do

2020-11-09 05:26:58 UTC

judging by the scale of the spartans to normal humans though, i assume those Assault Rifles are a little bit smaller then a modern day M249 SAW

2020-11-09 05:27:07 UTC

which is saying something

2020-11-09 05:27:16 UTC

or maybe the buffer spring in the stocks is just a masterpiece

2020-11-09 05:27:31 UTC

Spartans are a genetically engineered type of human from the Halo universe. Depending on the type of Spartan the height of a Spartan (fully armoured)is 7 feet tall(spartan 3)8 feet tall (spartan 2) and 6 to 7 feet tall (spartan 4), and have a reinforced endoskeleton.

wiki

2020-11-09 05:27:45 UTC

plus the rifles have been described as sturdy, serving as a club as well as a rifle, so i assume their hefty as well

2020-11-09 05:28:11 UTC

yeah i havent caught up on my halo lore in forever

2020-11-09 05:28:44 UTC

I love Halo's fairly realistic take on firearms and the associated technology

2020-11-09 05:28:56 UTC

yeah

2020-11-09 05:29:00 UTC

its cool

2020-11-09 05:31:02 UTC

alright well had fun chatting, i have school in the morning, gotta go to bed

2020-11-09 05:31:14 UTC

maybe it is just a bigger boolet

2020-11-09 05:31:22 UTC

as shown here

2020-11-09 05:31:50 UTC

> maybe it is just a bigger boolet
@Phoenix 3-1 not wider, just longer

2020-11-09 05:33:04 UTC

perhaps

2020-11-09 05:34:04 UTC

still, i think the magnum should have a carbine variant for tank and aircraft crewmen

2020-11-09 05:34:09 UTC

it wouldnt even be that hard

2020-11-09 05:35:09 UTC

a Stock, actual sights, possibly an extended magazine, extended barrel, and automatic or at least burst conversion and boom you have a .50 cal pistol carbine

2020-11-09 05:36:43 UTC

makes sense

2020-11-09 05:47:41 UTC

The halo 1 pistol with a Stock attached would be cool, an selectfire wouldn't really work...a really good single action or even binary tigger would be sweet

2020-11-09 05:49:22 UTC

I remember in I think ghosts of onyx....the spartan 3 were using a K variant of the assault rifle

2020-11-09 05:53:12 UTC

its not that the magnum cant do an auto conversion, there is a version capable of firing in bursts

2020-11-09 05:54:31 UTC

That's in halo 5s warzone right

2020-11-09 05:54:41 UTC

yup

2020-11-09 05:55:05 UTC

and i know halo 5 sucks as a game story wise, but it goes bring up some interesting weapon concepts

2020-11-09 05:56:15 UTC

Yes some interesting variants..like the nade attachment for the magnum

2020-11-09 05:59:23 UTC

I'm just say that mechanically it makes little sense for .50 pistol to have a burst mode...right now I'm remembering the time I bump fired a .50 Beowulf AR ... Oof
