Here’s a verse that I always view when I’m sad. I’m sure that it can cheer you guys up too: Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Quran 39:53

mashallah

2021-01-07 21:45:13 UTC

didn't mohammed just make allah up?

2021-01-07 21:46:22 UTC

idk man i wouldn't trust someone that married and raped children but that's just me, you do you though.

2021-01-07 22:52:08 UTC

And then there's the whole thing about killing anyone who doesn't believe in allah

2021-01-07 23:02:10 UTC

@JT Schmidt (AR) an additional point to make could relate back to why we have free will. God doesn't want robots, He wants us to be able to make decisions and choose to love Him.
But with free will, man will inevitably choose to do wrong, and society gets corrupted (look to the days of Noah, and of Lot, for example). So if we were not within the right to speak what we want, a corrupted society could easily ban Christianity's teachings and words, making so we can't share the Gospel, which Jesus commanded us to do.
In fact, that's what happened in Jesus' day. The Apostles were all hunted down and killed (besides 1, who was exiled on an island) for what they were teaching/saying. If God didn't give us the right to speak what we want, then why would He have told the Apostles and others to share the word of Jesus when teaching it could get them killed?
A point could be made about that being different because it's a command from God, so that it doesn't count. But look back again to the time of Jesus. When Jesus was spoken against, He didn't tell them not to speak as such, He instead talked about God, verses in the Bible, and who He was and what He was there to do (along with a few others).

Holy crap.

2021-01-07 23:04:43 UTC

Dude thanks so much

2021-01-07 23:05:36 UTC

The only times *(that I remember off the top of head, at least, I may be wrong)* where words caused consequences were either because of them being disrespectful to parents, authority, and God Himself

2021-01-07 23:05:56 UTC

True

2021-01-07 23:06:03 UTC

At least I think thts true

2021-01-07 23:06:23 UTC

Dang @CoolGuard you have a lot of biblical knowledge. I look up to you

2021-01-07 23:09:30 UTC

Thanks, but I'm a sinful man like everyone else. And I don't read the Bible or pray nearly as much as I should. I give credit for anything like that which I say to the Holy Spirit.
Don't look up to me, look up to God, without Him I'm nothing. *(also literally because He created me and everything else, so without Him I wouldn't exist :) )*

2021-01-07 23:10:15 UTC

Do you go to church?

2021-01-07 23:10:34 UTC

I was before the Corona lock downs

2021-01-07 23:10:46 UTC

Ahh. Where at? If I may ask

2021-01-07 23:12:30 UTC

I was going to a United Methodist church, but I'm not sure I really agree with all of it, so I was recently looking into to Independent Baptist churches to maybe try

2021-01-07 23:14:22 UTC

2 main problems I had was that I actually can't name a time the pastor preached about sin at all other than the "we're all sinners." and when asked a question about gay marriage, it seemed like he went out of his way to not give a direct answer, which as a pastor he should

2021-01-07 23:14:43 UTC

I’m part of a system of churches around the world. We’re kinda Christianity but a different “branch” of it ig. It was formed in the 70s or 80s when a few ppl from a traditional church of Christ started seeing that not all of their teaching were from the Bible. So they started a meeting church that values certain things more and is a bit different.

2021-01-07 23:16:46 UTC

Yea. A lot of pastors won’t talk abt it because they want people to keep attending the church. Our church doesn’t talk abt it too often but we do every once in a while. Our belief on homosexuality is that it isn’t a sin to have the temptation, but it is a sin to act on it. So we don’t say “it’s ok to be gay and marry a guy” but we also don’t say “gays aren’t allowed here” we accept and respect them but we do say that acting upon the temptation is a sin

2021-01-07 23:17:29 UTC

Idk if you’d be interested but, depending on where you live, maybe you could visit one of the churches in the system im in

2021-01-07 23:18:01 UTC

What's it called, I may look into it

2021-01-07 23:18:37 UTC

Each church as a different name, but the system itself is called the ICOC (international churches of Christ)

2021-01-07 23:19:24 UTC

Alright, thank you
