i've never really listened to philosophers talk or read idk was just somethin that never really intrigued me
I am heavily interested in old civilizations. So I tried to be informed as best as I can be.
i kinda see them as people just interpreting life
Some where yes. Others tried to perfect life
Or knowledgeable men
idk striving for perfection can be pretty damaging imo
*looks at history* yeah, it depends on the perfection
we are flawed beings, perfection is impossible to achieve
I am a Christian. I strive to be like Jesus but know I will never be perfect
Nor can I ever be
we are, but striving for it should be our goal, the real question is who defines perfection, and what is perfection
It depends. By the Bible? God. Worldly? It depends on the nation
i guess what i'm tryin to say is needing everything to be perfect can end up being overwhelming
because we just aren't going to be able to have it not as earthly beings anyway
Sparta, was the best soldiers. Old Germany? Well uh, consult the history books
i have question: how can we discuss religion without debating validity of it?
By discussing the difference in beliefs
It can be done. This day and age is used to having to defend themselves from any conversation though
It is also easier done in person. Tones cannot be heard in text
how do you talk about things like the earlier topic without making the other person feel attacked apparently i do it all wrong
i just literally feel disgust when i see things from the quran tbh i really don't like that particular religion so perhaps i should just avoid anything to do with it cuz i point out the crappy parts of it and then people get upset and it spirals
Well. If it stirs up anger in you and is in this chat, sometimes it is best to wait until someone else can respond who can do some buffering.
and then i wonder why they're upset they should know what's in the book so why would they be upset when someone points it out
If it is in person, politely ask if they are willing to discuss what they believe.
If things get heated, step away and let things cool down.
But also, be mindful of how you word things.
ah yeah
there really isn't a good way to word some of the things though
If I posted a verse from the Bible, and someone responded to it in a negative manner, I would ask why they feel that way.
It is good to understand where the other person is coming from.
well it would be like a Christian getting upset over a verse in the Bible being posted
Out of context probably
But I mean if the other person was making remarks about the verse.
For example: posting a verse about God loving the people of the world
And someone going, well that is a lie because bad things happen
I need to know where they are coming from before I can respond appropriately
Maybe they had a death in the family or a friend, maybe their life is hectic, or maybe they just want to start a fight
i definitely didn't say it in a way that was approachable
we should all follow asha, and i think the bible, both testiments has some solid stoic truth therein
Asha?
The path of rightousness, how Zoroastrain pray, think goopd thought, say good words, do good deeds, it has a lot of interpritations
