i've never really listened to philosophers talk or read idk was just somethin that never really intrigued me

2021-01-08 02:53:20 UTC

I am heavily interested in old civilizations. So I tried to be informed as best as I can be.

2021-01-08 02:53:45 UTC

i kinda see them as people just interpreting life

2021-01-08 02:54:12 UTC

Some where yes. Others tried to perfect life

2021-01-08 02:54:21 UTC

Or knowledgeable men

2021-01-08 02:55:22 UTC

idk striving for perfection can be pretty damaging imo

2021-01-08 02:56:00 UTC

*looks at history* yeah, it depends on the perfection

2021-01-08 02:56:01 UTC

we are flawed beings, perfection is impossible to achieve

2021-01-08 02:56:22 UTC

I am a Christian. I strive to be like Jesus but know I will never be perfect

2021-01-08 02:56:32 UTC

Nor can I ever be

2021-01-08 02:56:41 UTC

we are, but striving for it should be our goal, the real question is who defines perfection, and what is perfection

2021-01-08 02:57:57 UTC

It depends. By the Bible? God. Worldly? It depends on the nation

2021-01-08 02:58:11 UTC

i guess what i'm tryin to say is needing everything to be perfect can end up being overwhelming

2021-01-08 02:58:42 UTC

because we just aren't going to be able to have it not as earthly beings anyway

2021-01-08 02:58:51 UTC

Sparta, was the best soldiers. Old Germany? Well uh, consult the history books

2021-01-08 03:13:47 UTC

i have question: how can we discuss religion without debating validity of it?

2021-01-08 03:15:43 UTC

By discussing the difference in beliefs

2021-01-08 03:16:12 UTC

It can be done. This day and age is used to having to defend themselves from any conversation though

2021-01-08 03:16:36 UTC

It is also easier done in person. Tones cannot be heard in text

2021-01-08 03:19:56 UTC

how do you talk about things like the earlier topic without making the other person feel attacked apparently i do it all wrong

2021-01-08 03:22:14 UTC

i just literally feel disgust when i see things from the quran tbh i really don't like that particular religion so perhaps i should just avoid anything to do with it cuz i point out the crappy parts of it and then people get upset and it spirals

2021-01-08 03:24:42 UTC

Well. If it stirs up anger in you and is in this chat, sometimes it is best to wait until someone else can respond who can do some buffering.

2021-01-08 03:25:02 UTC

and then i wonder why they're upset they should know what's in the book so why would they be upset when someone points it out

2021-01-08 03:25:03 UTC

If it is in person, politely ask if they are willing to discuss what they believe.

2021-01-08 03:25:26 UTC

If things get heated, step away and let things cool down.

2021-01-08 03:25:51 UTC

But also, be mindful of how you word things.

2021-01-08 03:25:59 UTC

ah yeah

2021-01-08 03:26:11 UTC

there really isn't a good way to word some of the things though

2021-01-08 03:26:59 UTC

If I posted a verse from the Bible, and someone responded to it in a negative manner, I would ask why they feel that way.

2021-01-08 03:27:21 UTC

It is good to understand where the other person is coming from.

2021-01-08 03:27:36 UTC

well it would be like a Christian getting upset over a verse in the Bible being posted

2021-01-08 03:27:51 UTC

Out of context probably

2021-01-08 03:28:17 UTC

But I mean if the other person was making remarks about the verse.

2021-01-08 03:29:00 UTC

For example: posting a verse about God loving the people of the world

2021-01-08 03:29:14 UTC

And someone going, well that is a lie because bad things happen

2021-01-08 03:29:48 UTC

I need to know where they are coming from before I can respond appropriately

2021-01-08 03:30:29 UTC

Maybe they had a death in the family or a friend, maybe their life is hectic, or maybe they just want to start a fight

2021-01-08 03:30:57 UTC

i definitely didn't say it in a way that was approachable

2021-01-08 03:44:38 UTC

we should all follow asha, and i think the bible, both testiments has some solid stoic truth therein

2021-01-08 03:46:19 UTC

Asha?

2021-01-08 03:54:57 UTC

The path of rightousness, how Zoroastrain pray, think goopd thought, say good words, do good deeds, it has a lot of interpritations
