Looks good

2020-08-06 18:19:21 UTC

Damn, I can't draw vehicles for the life of me

2020-08-06 18:19:41 UTC

I'd really love to draw less organic stuff, how did you get started

2020-08-06 18:20:51 UTC

My shit always looks wonky and off in perspective. I've been attempting warhammer weapons and armor, but even something like armor is a bitch to draw

2020-08-06 19:45:04 UTC

One thing I learned whilst drawing vehicles of any nature; is to look at each section of a vehicle as an individual piece. For example: the track system on the above Sherman. The front treads by themselves are 4 separate layers. Each are focused individually and placed together to make a whole. The bogey system is also 4 pieces. The main unit that holds the wheels, the wheels them selves, the arms and the spring. All that adds up to what you see before you.
So when a making a piece focus on one section at a time, then in that section divide it up into layers that you can work on.
I hope my explanation is helpful @Coco . If you would like a different analogy I would be happy to give another

yeah sure thing! you planning on perhaps one day playing around with fictional designs of your own? Also thanks for the extensive reply

2020-08-06 19:48:43 UTC

Hmmm fictional designs; as in vehicles

2020-08-06 19:55:06 UTC

Yes

2020-08-06 20:12:11 UTC

I don’t think I’ve ever actually tried it. But I’m willing to give it the good ol shot

2020-08-06 20:13:40 UTC

Sure, also works good for merchandise, maybe a custom turret with some Kilroy type doodle on it to mark as your own

2020-08-06 20:14:37 UTC

Oh that reminds me of a nifty tutorial I once found, let me check if I can still find it

2020-08-06 20:22:26 UTC

I can't find the exact one I was looking for but these guys bring out small tutorials all the time on a variety of subjects. They also have a lot on machines, vehicles and the such. Though I must say these are mostly in their own style which is not so much realistic as it is comic-y
