2020-08-19 00:44:09 UTC

that prediction was SPOT ON

2020-08-19 00:44:16 UTC

that's astounding

2020-08-19 01:10:13 UTC

Yeah, too bad it’s censored

2020-08-19 01:11:06 UTC

Lol

2020-08-19 01:47:58 UTC

Anyone here a bit of a ww2 buff?

2020-08-19 01:52:48 UTC

πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ of sorts

2020-08-19 01:54:28 UTC

Sweet.

2020-08-19 01:55:16 UTC

@HUNTER4639 have you ever done any reading or looking into the Pacific theater?

2020-08-19 01:59:43 UTC

I think I've heard of it but not really.

2020-08-19 01:59:53 UTC

It sounds familiar

2020-08-19 02:00:29 UTC

Interesting. I always found sea battles to be more interesting. Idk why.

2020-08-19 02:01:05 UTC

OHHHH

2020-08-19 02:01:06 UTC

Yes I have

2020-08-19 02:01:13 UTC

I was thinking it was a book or something lmao

2020-08-19 02:01:39 UTC

Yeah I also find sea battles more interesting

2020-08-19 02:01:45 UTC

Ah cool.

I think the most mismatched battle was leyte gulf.

2020-08-19 02:03:23 UTC

Sadly it's overlooked in most history classes and not widely known unless you happen to study/look into history.

2020-08-19 02:03:43 UTC

I've played Battlestations Pacific and that was one of the battles πŸ˜‚ pretty cool stuff

2020-08-19 02:05:18 UTC

What role did you play?

2020-08-19 02:05:42 UTC

I can't remember the scenario.

2020-08-19 02:05:57 UTC

It's been to long ago for me.

2020-08-19 02:09:55 UTC

You play as the air support while bombing hangars

2020-08-19 02:10:53 UTC

Ah. Well, there's another aspect of that battle. One far more interesting in real life anyways.

2020-08-19 02:11:28 UTC

And then a Japanese battleship with 2 escorts shows up

2020-08-19 02:11:42 UTC

But before that 2 aircraft carriers get kamikazed

2020-08-19 02:12:23 UTC

Our aircraft carriers

2020-08-19 02:12:32 UTC

That's the mission lol

2020-08-19 02:12:46 UTC

Haven't really looked into the real life battle too much

2020-08-19 02:12:58 UTC

Hmm. Interesting.

2020-08-19 02:13:28 UTC

Well, I think you would enjoy the history.

2020-08-19 02:14:07 UTC

Do you know what a tin can referred to in the navy?

2020-08-19 02:14:18 UTC

No I don't

2020-08-19 02:15:52 UTC

Ok, well destroyer and destroyer escorts were called tin cans. Because they would be crushed like a tin can if they were hit by enemy ships like a cruiser all the way to a big battleship.

2020-08-19 02:16:40 UTC

Interesting I didn't know that

2020-08-19 02:17:14 UTC

So there's a book called, "the last stand of the Tin can sailors." And it talks about the entire conflict between literally tin cans turning an entire Japanese navy battleship group.

2020-08-19 02:18:52 UTC

Oh man

2020-08-19 02:19:27 UTC

Taffy 3 was the name of group. They were made of like 4 or 5 dd(destroyers) and 4-6 de(destroyer escorts) and a a dozen or so jeep carriers who were supporting the landing at leyte for the Philippines island invasion.

2020-08-19 02:20:00 UTC

They were the only thing standing between the troop and supply ships.

2020-08-19 02:20:20 UTC

Oh wow I didn't know that

2020-08-19 02:20:23 UTC

I'll share a link with you.
