I'm really late but I definitely agree @Dr Badass PhD . You can't "earn," a right to something, at least not in the US. It's something you're already given simply by legally being in this country

That might be different in a scenario where you live in a country that doesn't give you proper independence, but I'd call that getting back your rights rather than earning them

I just got a call from someone in my city asking me if my mayor will have my vote. Then she went on to talk about mail-in voting and give me this wishy washy explanation that maybe there will be voting polls open in select places. She started stuttering because she realized I wasn't having this bullshit over the phone. I didn't appreciate them calling me to see who I'm voting for.
