I’m so very glad it’s so easy for you. But, if it were that easy everyone would have one. Yes, it’s that hard. Many can’t afford it. Many don’t have the ability to get a degree. Many degrees don’t have employment opportunities. I think about my special Ed students. Many are LD, EI, CI, etc. Some will do well in the workforce with technical training, if they can get it. Many will wind up in minimum wage jobs because that is what they’re able to do. Minimum wage jobs got us through the pandemic. Minimum wage jobs are the backbone of this country. When a corporation sees billions in profits but doesn’t take care of the entry level workers, which they rely upon for their success, I have a huge problem. For example, Bezos could pay each and every worker 80K and still see billions in profits. Many of those workers don’t get full time, have several jobs AND aren’t offered corporate paid medical. Many actually have to rely on public assistance to get by. That’s what we call corporate welfare. It’s what I call 21st century slavery. Imagine if you will that each minimum wage worker did not work. Where would you be without Bezos, Walton, and other corporations like them? Where would we all be? We rely on those folks working those jobs to take care of our basic needs. The majority are in the service industry. Imagine no hotel workers, no dishwashers, cooks, servers, hostesses, no gas station attendants, no retail workers. Imagine. Don’t they deserve a living wage? Or, are you content with continuing to pay into social services with your taxes while Bezos, Trump, and the like pay near to nothing in taxes while their entry level workers get social assistance because they aren’t paid well enough to take care of themselves and their families.
