perfect for spotify

2019-10-09 08:40:44 UTC

LARGE variety of "audiophile" ethernet cables exist*

2019-10-09 08:44:26 UTC

i wonder if "audiophile" NICS rebranded from cheap alicards could sell well :D

2019-10-09 08:44:47 UTC

just add additional ferrit choke to one of the pins and call it specialized product

2019-10-09 12:44:12 UTC

Ones and zeros could be more easily corrupted or not be read as fast on shitty cards

2019-10-09 12:44:40 UTC

I had korean dash cams that were very temperamental about which microsd cards worked

2019-10-09 18:32:42 UTC

@Tervy tldr?

2019-10-09 18:33:08 UTC

right to repair

2019-10-09 18:33:22 UTC

and forced sale of repair parts

2019-10-09 18:33:33 UTC

on within certain time and cost limitations

2019-10-09 18:44:36 UTC

oh my son you dont know the half of it.. laptops are just tip of the iceberg of "fuck you cause we can"

2019-10-09 18:48:07 UTC

once you realise that there is/was(kind of still is) people hacking their fucking tractors firmware so they can repair it ? want that new transmission ?? nope, want new AC ?? nope unless you pay for push of a button (and everything included...)

The legal license agreement specific didn't allow farmers to sue the company for any kind of "crop loss, lost profits, loss of goodwill, loss of use of equipment ... arising from the performance or non-performance of any aspect of the software."

2019-10-09 18:48:41 UTC

and yes its the model example of shitty future by John Deere and all other big companies

2019-10-09 19:42:34 UTC

laptops have a reason though

2019-10-09 19:42:40 UTC

soldered parts are smaller than socketed parts

2019-10-09 19:43:43 UTC

like are you going to complain about 01005 and 0201 smd parts too?

2019-10-09 20:10:32 UTC

Louis Rossman would like to have a word with you

2019-10-09 20:12:41 UTC

Nobody is complaining about the size of soldered resistors and ics, but it's to be expected that RAM/storage/wifi cards should be servicable, the types of companies that remove those features in an attempt at miniaturization are also the same companies that make garbage like the MacBook air

2019-10-09 20:13:23 UTC

Disposable hardware that starts at $2k

2019-10-09 20:24:55 UTC

i'm also not sure what you're supposed to be getting at with DC jack/webcam

2019-10-09 20:25:05 UTC

half of the laptops don't have a DC jack

2019-10-09 20:25:17 UTC

webcams are in the screen so they'll always be connected via a cable and replaceable

2019-10-11 00:20:46 UTC

Any of you fine gentlegamers able to identify what ThinkPad this is? Sorry for the shit quality, it's the sellers camera not mine

2019-10-11 00:26:39 UTC

looks like W540 / T540 / W541 based on the lack of trackpoint mouse1/mouse2/mouse3 buttons

2019-10-11 00:27:15 UTC

W series has a numpad

2019-10-11 00:27:33 UTC

this is true

Confirmed not a w 540/1, mine has a numpad

2019-10-11 00:31:08 UTC

The seller is including it with 4 other early 2010s laptops for $120, what do you guys say I should offer for the Thonkpad?

2019-10-11 00:33:03 UTC

do you need a laptop?>

2019-10-11 00:35:28 UTC

Not really but I'd like to have another laptop as a sandbox for learning Linux

For $120? That seems like a good deal, but id ask about the specs

2019-10-11 00:42:49 UTC

just use a vm or dualboot

2019-10-11 00:48:19 UTC

I want to avoid that ngl because I think this person doesn't know what they have

2019-10-11 01:01:08 UTC
