I updated my mac...
Apfs does it automatically
It doesn't matter though I was able to save myt home folder
This is why you are not retard.dmg
Well the drive is close to dying be cause it had apfs encryption on it
Then it had more encryption
Then vms running 24/7 with encryption
Why would having encryption cause substantially more wear and tear than with normal use?
especially when that part is handled by CPU
I need to hear fron the expert himself
<:alithink:327930371796893698>
Yes if you install clover uefi
Just install windows to uefi
I'm no expert but on SSD's but if you encrypt the full disk it will take up the whole disk space even if it is not actually full, as opposed to an unencrypted drive which will only use what is actually being used and the space is only allocated. If the full disk is being used on an ssd it reduces the write cycles more quickly (I forgot why)
There is my shitty explanation
@transience more read / writes I think Idk I'm not an expert I'm just retarded
You are!

Nice job reading what install gentoo wrote
I agree
<:thinkOwO:309868359829291008>
Most SSDs have a large cache (of around 30gb or more I think) which stops the drive from completely bricking itself
I think if they are completely full they break
Without a cache
It's a evo 830 m.2
Good. kys
@install gentoo As far as I know, it fills up the drive so you can't figure out how much free space there is until you decrypt the drive
It's a one time thing until you overwrite that free space iirc
Yeah
I don't see how running encrypted vms 24/7 would reduce the lifespan though
@dappleface you thot
What kind of autist runs encrypted vms
you're doing it wrong anyway
encrypted the main drive itself, then run unencrypted vms off that
daily reminder that dapple's dad broke into his unencrypted *actual* drive and found out his plans to throw an underage party
Full disk encryption = bloat anyway
really makes you <:thenk:329322130804047872>
Just encrypt the files you need to
(Your cp)
