The "party flip" was not that at all... it was a demographic shift due to a lack of jobs in the south post civil war... so the southern Democrats moved into the industrial cities in the north while some people in the north sought to gain business by investing down south

Albeit I still am of the notion that the civil war was not started over slavery but of vast economic discrepancies between the north and south

Which also was why the south lost, no economic means of supporting their army while the north has men and supplies to use for years

I hope here in Greece we had a party that actually represents my views like the Republican Party in Us .

Slavery was just an aspect used to try and destabilize the south even further since their main workforce were slaves
