The world is garbage, the institute is extremely high tech and luxurious
And their standard of living is super high
I just think father made a poor decision I'm making the sole survivor the leader of the Institute
They value knowledge over physical strength

See the fundamental problem with the institute is their disconnection with the surface world
They see themselves and the surface as disconnected
The Institute would very much like to destroy everybody on the surface
And the whole destroying entire towns for no reason
