When people rebel against their Christian upbringing, it's usually because they want to do what the Bible says is sin. Given enough years, this hatred of Christ turns to hatred of those that reflect him.

Yep. The tough part is, everyone always wants to compare the actions as though they're the same, but I'my reality, that's a confession of moral unreasonableness. If we can't tell the difference between right and wrong to begin with, then the actions that result are irrelevant.
