George washington had slaves and u support him <:KEK:726877368601411624>

I mean, I can agree, the republicans were progressive, to create something that would then be good to conserve. Hence why they became conservatives later.

2021-01-04 04:59:25 UTC

I think Lincoln did abuse some power during the war, and in fact he did say some racist comments basically saying that Black people were inferior. But I genuinely think he did not like slavery and the southern states needed to be kept in the union and slavery abolished. If the Civil War never happened, the United States would not be a superpower today οΏΌοΏΌοΏΌ

2021-01-04 04:59:38 UTC

Ok

He freed his slaves before the other founders becaude he struggled with the practice as he disliked it

2021-01-04 05:00:13 UTC

It is factually true that for a period of time republicans were the progressives. They just didn't sprint all the way off the progressive cliff. Once they fixed the problems, they decided it was time to keep it good.

2021-01-04 05:00:15 UTC

They still had them tho

None of the founding fathers actually liked slavery, they kept it because the people owned slaves

2021-01-04 05:00:25 UTC

I agree with some of your points And I also think and agree with you that we can’t just cherry pick who we like in history. We have to look at the good and bad that everyone did to an extent

Unless Jefferson openly advocated for it then idk

2021-01-04 05:00:33 UTC

It's stupid

Since Jefferson was a democrat I believe

2021-01-04 05:00:43 UTC

Rebels get shafted in any version of history book

2021-01-04 05:00:50 UTC

Cuz muh slavery

Because they were morons

2021-01-04 05:01:00 UTC

We aren't playing the leftist game either though, we remember abraham lincoln for his ACCOMPLISHMENTS, not the things he did wrong. everyone fucks something up

2021-01-04 05:01:08 UTC

Why'd some slave states join the union then

2021-01-04 05:01:18 UTC

And why'd the union accept them if they hated slavery so much

Lincoln was certainly not perfect but we look at the one thing he did mostly because it overshadows everything else in this circumstance, he freed the slaves lol

2021-01-04 05:01:50 UTC

Lincoln was a great president

2021-01-04 05:01:52 UTC

No he didnt

Now definitely not with the emancipation proclamation

2021-01-04 05:02:00 UTC

He was dead when they were freed

2021-01-04 05:02:01 UTC

So like, is your position that we should have been conservative before the slaves were freed? We should have just let that one slide?

2021-01-04 05:02:08 UTC

Wat

2021-01-04 05:02:29 UTC

Your fcking confederates killed him

2021-01-04 05:02:29 UTC

Just like, conserve the position of slavery. Like it was good that the democrats were conservatives back then? I'm still so confused of the point of this argument

He was the mastermind behind his side of the war, he caused the north to win because without him they probably would’ve been at a disadvantage. After the war, slaves were freed, without the war they probably wouldn’t have been for a long time

2021-01-04 05:02:33 UTC

Slavery literally wasnt even popular with people who werent filthy rich in the south cuz it kept them poor

2021-01-04 05:02:57 UTC

And they still died in the tens of thousands to protect their homes

2021-01-04 05:03:03 UTC

Which ended up getting burned down anywags

2021-01-04 05:03:10 UTC

Without them ever having owned slaves

2021-01-04 05:03:53 UTC

πŸ€”

2021-01-04 05:04:40 UTC

Except none of them were actually fighting for that since the only fuckers in the country that actually owned slaves were the rich

2021-01-04 05:04:44 UTC

Well I just had a thought. Were the democrats actually conservative back then, or were they just stupid? I mean part of the way the abolishment of slavery was justified was invoking constitutional rights.

2021-01-04 05:05:02 UTC

The parties arent really comparable to modern ones

2021-01-04 05:05:18 UTC

Both of them were very different from their modern namesakes

2021-01-04 05:05:24 UTC

Like, according to the constitution, keeping slaves is completely unjustifiable, right? So they had no right to have slaves to begin with.

2021-01-04 05:05:54 UTC

Why were the slaves not sent back to Africa ?

I don’t really think they were conservatives

2021-01-04 05:06:07 UTC

After the abolishment
