he would be sworn in as President. I think the party would decide if he would be on the ballot next month.

Pence could fare better than Trump since he'll get the Trump vote by association and the more traditional Republican vote
I think it depends on the timing, if something should happen before the electoral college vote in december then the 25th amendment would be invoked (pence get sworn in). Meanwhile the rnc would have to fill the void with another candidate to accompany pence on the trump-pence ticket (because we're in an election year and only roughly thirty days left logistically).
