If your gods are relatable to humans that implies they are prone to the exact same flaws and commit just as many wrongdoings as humans. Meaning they are unfit for a position like deeming humans worthy or unworthy, and makes them sound more like tyrants drunk on their own power
Hel is a much better place if its peace you want, not everyone stays there but those who do remain with loved ones in the halls of their fathers. Its been completely projected wrong as a cold and hellish place. If you read ancient texts that survived its described as a warm green place like spring. Thats just one possibility. Valhall on the other hand is a boot camp a place for not the faint of heart. It is a place of constant warfare and training. Where each day during the day you flight till you are slain and at the end of the day you are reborn and feist in Odin’s hall where you speak of your deeds in life and in death. Its not an eternity if you are familiar with Ragnarok which is merely a cycle of rebirth. Folkvangir or Freya’s hall is the complete opposite. She gets half the battle slain and her hall is described as a peaceful hall in a meadow where those who reside paint and live merry until the end

Depending on which god you were mainly connected with by choice or chosen you may just reside in their halls
Woden, Odin or Oden may be my lord but ultimately I am my own master.
I mainly am connected to 4 gods and goddesses
Woden,Thor,Skadi and Hel. All of them hold various reflections to my own life. Odin’s constant search for knowledge related to my quest for understanding the political world and its secrets, Thor’s brutal strength reminds me to stay strong at all times despite my flaws. Skadi represents my deep love for the winter and its primal power that it inflicts on life, only the strong survive it. It claimed my grandfather on my dads side and grandmother on my moms side. And Hel, Hel is special to me ask she helps me know peace with the dead and I hold more connection to the dead than I do the living. I would much rather walk a cemetery than a mall any day. My beliefs are a lot about ancestor worship/honoring

I don’t mind people believing other wise its not my place to tell others what to believe in or what is right or wrong. For me Asatru is what fulfills me and brings me comfort
