well Disney has influence from both. A lot of the old Disney movies are based off both old european pagan fairytales as well as some from Europe's Christian era

i think partly yes, i think the other part for doing remakes is a business standpoint, it's a safer bet

it's less risky to remake a movie that you know is popular than it is to make a whole new movie and risk investing millions into it

at the same time the political correct madness is sort of the dearth of art and storytelling, so their remakes are pretty pitiful, even their new additions to existing series, for example Star Wars, are frankly boring disasters because atheistic type worldviews just cannot realyl capture the complexities and dramas that make art good
