legally they couldn’t be bound
for a while the compromise was the pro slave people had their states the Old South and the pro-white states had the Old North, but then of course the South betray America because a Republican get elected and during the war the slaves are freed since the institution of slavery transfer over to the enemy regime which was soundly defeated
slavery is just so fucked to begin with
Like owning a human
indentured servitude has always ben around
but that's kinda different
Very different
it is a form of slavery i guess, but it's more transactional
They received land after their time was up for awhile
ie: buy me a boat ticket to Murica and I serve you for 5 years
Got to live normal life’s
a common bargain for European immigrants
lives*
Slavery though, I couldn’t imagine being born into it I’d rather kill myself
i could imagine if i was born into it i could be okay with it
but going from being born free and noble, i couldn't bear it
the african slaves wasnt stolen from africa
Humans know they shouldn’t be bound at night and work and whipped
No matter if your born into it or not
they was bought and paid for and sold to europeans by other africans
they were sold
W no consent
More like kidnapping sorry
no that's not true
Bow
How
one of the arguments to end slavery too, which NO ONE EVER MENTIONS
like most slaves in history, they were the captured people by other tribes or by the muslim empires
is that it wasnt taxable labor
it's very common when you win a war you enslave the people, if you don't massacre them that is
most ppl who worked for a paycheck, worked more then the average slave alot of the times
I know I’m just saying there wasn’t consent they were in Africa then the next year in America
one of the arguments to end slavery was so they would become more productive and it would be taxable labor
the more powerful african tribes or the muslim sultanates in the areas would simply prevail in war over other african tribes and enslave them dispersing them through their own kingdoms and/or sellign them to other empires and nations
the cotton gin also made having slaves moot in some ways as well
theamericans buy black slaves because it was seen as unethical to enslave fellow whites and to enslave semites, but because of the curse of Canaan, and because of the primitiveness of their cultures, it was seen as okay to enslave the Hamites
It’s also crazy how people used the Bible back then to defend slavery
well the cotton gin came way later as well as cotton, cotton was actually only a cash crop for the period immediately before the civil war
Canaan was cursed to be servants of servants so
before cotton most slaves worked on plantations that grew tobacco and pot lmao
