Hey @everyone

I do my best to portray myself as politically neutral, amorphous, and unbiased. I think it's important for you guys to feel like this community is a space where you can express yourselves without worrying about ideological bias from the leadership of the server.

I need to drop the mask for a bit.

I'm an American and I voted for Donald Trump in 2016. I voted for him again a couple days ago. That being said, a few hours ago the President went too far for me to keep up the meme in good conscience.

Tonight the President chose to lie about the validity of the election, shoving an already bitterly divided nation closer to violent civil unrest, in a transparent and unforgivable attempt to save his pride in the face of what seems to be an inevitable defeat handed to him by the American people.

I believe this should transcend political parties and the admittedly passionate ideological differences that exist between us. This is something we should never accept from a President. I know how easy it is to get lost in the political squabbles we have with each other. The jokes, the memes, the point scoring, the feeling of satisfaction when the other side gets frustrated, etc.

I believe these games should be recognized for what they are -- insignificant play fighting -- when we're faced with what seems to be a deliberate, selfish attempt to sow violent division in our country.

I encourage you all to take a step back, take a breath, and start thinking about coming together.

Start thinking about treating the 'other side' less like the caricatures in the memes you peddle around and more like what they are-- your neighbors, your family, your friends, your people. Americans who love this country as much as you do.
