Maybe I used hyperbole but you get the point
Meh, God doesn't instruct us to build great structures and fill it with symbols
I have disdain for the widespread usage of the crucifix in Catholicism as well
Why?
My dad pointed out that Christ is no longer on the cross because He ascended into Heaven
A cross is acceptable, but he disagrees with depicting Christ on the cross
What should be the symbol for Christianity then?
Just a normal cross
Without depicting Jesus as still being crucified
But Christ on a cross is deplorable?
It's just showing us how he suffered for us
I wouldn't say deplorable, but rather incorrect
It's a reminder
The cross is plenty of a reminder
Ok, Goodnight gentlemen
imo
👋
Goodnight Changlo
The entire point of the religion isn't that Jesus died and now he's in heaven. The entire point is he suffered on the Cross.
He was crucified, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven
Well it's just pointing out that He's in heaven
it's not too big of a deal obviously
A cross without Jesus is the same as the cross with Jesus
Yeah it's not a big deal
But I guess it's important for Reformists to acknowledge that Christ isn't still on the cross, because of Him being resurrected and ascending into Heaven justified the sufficiency of His sacrifice
Anyways I'm not a good advocate for my religion, I'm not a theist
Fair enough
Actually I am a theist, I mean I'm not a scholar
The sucky thing is that my art school already accepted me so I can't get rejected and go that path...
My dad has studied Reformed doctrine, so I defer to his judgement on a lot of matters
Especially when I can back up what he's saying with scripture
That's good
Yeah
I got some invite to a fed honey pot discord
Oh well, idk wasn't tryna get that far into the crucifix
I'm new to catholicism so I have no one to revert to
They want to know my name and state I live in
First time in my life i have seen a space between a and theist
Good space
But just wanted to point out how we don't use the crucifix as symbolism, and you seldom even find a cross in a true Reformed church
