I do flac because I dont want to keep supporting MP3 V0 which is a good format and all

But I prefer encoding the lossy as ogg vorbis

that's fair, also mp3 is proprietary and that sucks too

and space is no concern

but i dont think using flac thrugh a portable pre amo in your car is a wise thing to do
