2016-08-09 15:40:35 UTC

is this the right thing for updating the MIUI? http://en.miui.com/download-304.html

2016-08-09 15:41:07 UTC

Yeah their official site is good

2016-08-09 15:41:15 UTC

theres also some other site but I dont think its recommended

2016-08-09 15:41:27 UTC

I think thats xiaomi.eu

2016-08-09 15:41:37 UTC

unofficial ROMs

2016-08-09 15:42:07 UTC

is the one I linked to the chinese one or international?

2016-08-09 15:42:21 UTC

chinese site

2016-08-09 15:42:27 UTC

the .eu is unofficial

2016-08-09 15:42:59 UTC

this tool supposedly can fastboot flash update of ROMs

2016-08-09 15:43:10 UTC

if you dont like manual work

2016-08-09 15:43:34 UTC

I wouldn't mind the work i'd just be afraiding of fucking it up somehow, not used to messing with phones

2016-08-09 15:43:40 UTC

afraid*

2016-08-09 15:43:51 UTC

Impossible to fuckup a flash unless you drag out the power or something during flash

2016-08-09 15:43:57 UTC

If you fuckup the bootloader

2016-08-09 15:44:01 UTC

oh ok

2016-08-09 15:44:01 UTC

well bye bye phone

2016-08-09 15:44:10 UTC

bricks are fun

2016-08-09 15:44:16 UTC

so are there any known issues with the unafficial ROM?

2016-08-09 15:44:19 UTC

Thats why my ASUS router has broadcom backup webserver

2016-08-09 15:44:30 UTC

If you reset the router in full the module will load and can flash the router anew so no worries

2016-08-09 15:44:37 UTC

I assume the shop wouldn't take it back if it didn't have their one on it

2016-08-09 15:44:55 UTC

its fun that we have techns now to avoid bricks completely

2016-08-09 15:45:18 UTC

Well, I heard that some vendors opened up your phone on ali

2016-08-09 15:45:26 UTC

and flashed xiaomi.eu since it supported some foregin languges idk

2016-08-09 15:45:34 UTC

and apperantly that was bad because they installed adware

2016-08-09 15:45:39 UTC

or the ROM itself contained it

2016-08-09 15:45:45 UTC

I would recommend asking in /csg/ about xiaomi.eu

2016-08-09 15:45:56 UTC

But from what I can see I dont udnerstand why you would not pick official

2016-08-09 15:46:00 UTC

since you understand english dont you?

2016-08-09 15:46:04 UTC

yep

2016-08-09 15:46:25 UTC

i guess i'll just try updating the official one for now, thanks for the help

2016-08-09 15:46:37 UTC

My phone is a HTC and I run unofficial ROM just because its far better than official one at some small tweaks

2016-08-09 15:47:16 UTC

includes DAC optimizations, kernel optimizations etc

2016-08-09 15:47:36 UTC

Tfw wanted xiaomi mi5 but no burgerland band support.

2016-08-09 15:47:39 UTC

nice, probably not my thing though, at least for now
