with AMD putting in some shekels with Vulkan and DX12 adoption as well as being the only GPU for consoles

2016-08-12 17:11:05 UTC

I'll say it'll take 2-3 years before AMD outperforms Nvidia

2016-08-12 17:11:13 UTC

when everyone moves to new architectures

2016-08-12 17:11:40 UTC

Intel chips don't scale well with single threading. The only reason they seem to is because more threads relieve the workload of the one. You're just barely skating by with an ip, though. Since a lot of games are becoming quad core minimum. And the hyperthreading gets counted as such.

2016-08-12 17:12:01 UTC

i got a i3 6100 cause the i5 6600 is overpriced

2016-08-12 17:12:10 UTC

and intel's next gen chips use the same sockets anyways

2016-08-12 17:12:18 UTC

so I can easily drop a new CPU in

2016-08-12 17:12:19 UTC

Basically, your i3 is way faster single threaded. As long as it's not bogged down with a shit load of tasks.

2016-08-12 17:12:52 UTC

and I've read nonstop that the i3 6100 is amazing and outpeforms it's price class

2016-08-12 17:12:59 UTC

and it wont be a bottleneck for years

2016-08-12 17:13:33 UTC

Haha, well.. I'd find out if yours is locked. Bclk over clocking is pretty easy with skyline I heard.

2016-08-12 17:13:45 UTC

Skylake

2016-08-12 17:14:02 UTC

yeah

2016-08-12 17:14:10 UTC

im gonna probably get a noctua

2016-08-12 17:14:13 UTC

and drop it on

2016-08-12 17:14:19 UTC

Since the memory and pcie controllers are on a separate bus now.

2016-08-12 17:14:57 UTC

Check eBay, I picked up 2 different noctuas for less than 50$ shipped. Last I checked all the cheap ones were gone though.

2016-08-12 17:15:05 UTC

tbh if you don't mess around with extreme CPU heavy emulators there is no need to care about CPUs

2016-08-12 17:15:23 UTC

If it isn't an Intel pentium 3 or something

2016-08-12 17:15:26 UTC

Lol

2016-08-12 17:15:29 UTC

Good thing I have a 9370

2016-08-12 17:15:40 UTC

Oh lawd.

2016-08-12 17:16:11 UTC

What's the voltage on that beast?

2016-08-12 17:17:19 UTC

Can't believe you can't find Nu Males Sky for under 50€

2016-08-12 17:17:20 UTC

Supposedly the dude I got that 290 off of dropped it off today. Alas, I don't think usps moves packages on Sundays.

2016-08-12 17:18:04 UTC

If the bastid shipped it yesterday, I'd have it tomorrow to tinker with.

2016-08-12 17:18:04 UTC

I heard nu males sky doesn't have multiplayer

2016-08-12 17:18:33 UTC

It's "essentially" single player. Whatever that means. I didn't read the article.

2016-08-12 17:19:21 UTC

is there a difference between DDR4 speeds now

2016-08-12 17:19:27 UTC

I got a 2666 mhz

2016-08-12 17:19:48 UTC

Yeah but only tiny bit

2016-08-12 17:19:49 UTC

What do you mean? Like between different speed ddr4 dimms?

2016-08-12 17:19:53 UTC

yeah

2016-08-12 17:19:55 UTC

different speeds

2016-08-12 17:19:58 UTC

for DDR4 dimms

2016-08-12 17:20:13 UTC

Depends on the game, some have little to no gains, some have huge gains.

2016-08-12 17:20:14 UTC

You have to go 3000+ for small increase in performance

2016-08-12 17:20:34 UTC

hmm I should have splurged for the 3000 then

2016-08-12 17:20:47 UTC

Doesn't matter much if your minimum framerate is around 60 tho

2016-08-12 17:20:47 UTC

Fallout 4 is running an old engine, optimized for systems with unified memory pools, so it seems to hit system memory harder than it should.
