Yeah, but VLC in general even now.

2016-08-27 20:34:14 UTC

It's kinda behind all other video players even on desktop

2016-08-27 20:34:25 UTC

even some webms can't be played properly on it

2016-08-27 20:34:34 UTC

maybe after their latest upate

2016-08-27 20:34:57 UTC

I heard it struggles with VP9 Webms

2016-08-27 20:35:09 UTC

vlc was able to play and record some shady korean rtsp porn channel i found so it has its uses

2016-08-27 20:35:43 UTC

I wonder where I have that recording

2016-08-27 20:39:43 UTC

@Aerione yeah that sounds about right

2016-08-27 20:42:02 UTC

Well see

2016-08-27 20:42:05 UTC

VLC is made for network streaming

2016-08-27 20:42:12 UTC

mpv is a VASTLY superior player

2016-08-27 20:42:42 UTC

Other than that, on Windows, if MPC can't do something, I see if VLC can.

2016-08-27 20:43:13 UTC

yeah I generally use mpc-hc, mplayer on gnu+linux

2016-08-27 20:43:27 UTC

Sounds correct to me.

2016-08-27 20:43:28 UTC

what is up with this mpv meme

2016-08-27 20:43:33 UTC

MPV is good.

2016-08-27 20:43:38 UTC

It's one for the terminal folks.

2016-08-27 20:43:44 UTC

I've never not been able to do anything with mpc-hc

2016-08-27 20:43:51 UTC

mpv im_gay.mp4

2016-08-27 20:43:58 UTC

like mplayer? or better

2016-08-27 20:44:12 UTC

I have no idea. Let me look it up.

2016-08-27 20:44:30 UTC

mpv is supposedly based on mplayer.

2016-08-27 20:44:33 UTC

so

2016-08-27 20:44:44 UTC

oh so it probably has a few more features

2016-08-27 20:45:11 UTC

Re-enable screensaver while the player is paused.
Allow resuming playback at a later point with Shift+q, also see the quit-watch-later input command.

2016-08-27 20:45:17 UTC

I use mpv on Windows and GNU/Linux

2016-08-27 20:45:21 UTC

Better pause handling (e.g. do not unpause on a command).
Precise seeking support.
Improvements in audio/video sync handling.
Do not lose settings when playing a new file in the same player instance.

2016-08-27 20:45:22 UTC

etc

2016-08-27 20:45:26 UTC

It's superb when streaming videos

2016-08-27 20:45:28 UTC

There's a bunch of shit here

2016-08-27 20:45:29 UTC

Which I do a lot of

2016-08-27 20:45:38 UTC

mpv is a lovely bit of kit. How well does it fare on Windows?

2016-08-27 20:45:43 UTC

I should grab it.

2016-08-27 20:45:44 UTC

Chpater skip with pgup, screenshots in png

2016-08-27 20:45:47 UTC

Works fine on Windows too

2016-08-27 20:45:54 UTC

if you configure it

2016-08-27 20:46:01 UTC

the Windows build however opengl-hq

2016-08-27 20:46:05 UTC

It's not DirectX whatever based

2016-08-27 20:46:09 UTC

not like it matters

2016-08-27 20:46:10 UTC

yeah I actually use smplayer now that I'm sort of over using linux in turbonerd mode (I keep having to use windows and or don't care enough anymore)
