bandwidth has gotten cheaper and you could put some limits in to save b/w

for example you could mandate that people use your encoder and do h265/vp10 encoding on THEIR machines using your client and save a ton on compute alone

spread your vids across low cost providers and make a rough and tumble cdn of sorts

the labor is the worst part but you could make that more streamlined

now, would you actually do it? probably not

and yes i'm mentioning encoding formats that don't work in current browsers cause if you do it today you're gonna aim for 2+ years in the future

and the bandwidth savings alone would get you a little bit ahead, which is kinda cheating and being the more agile guy
