well for serious it's because the machines i have basically run off usb and are for testing stuff like kubernetes and docker swarm

just make a vm lab

it also has the practical aspect of allowing me to zero-effort provision any new machine i get with just an ethernet cable

you dont need physicals for your tiny docker harbor
