tried doing that, getting terrible speeds
why do you think an extender would help
mostly because the 2nd router is shit but i'm getting weird results
I'm using an ac1200 asus router downstairs
are you in a city
with lots of other wifi noise
no channels aren't the issue i've tried that
the thing is downstairs i get about 180 on everything
run ethernet upstairs and set up a 2nd ap there
upstairs i get 180 on my phone, but like 60-80 on everything else and in the attic it gets down to 30
don't use an extender it'll just make shit lag worse
running ethernet isn't an option unfortunately or else i would have done that already
shoo shoo, Anon111234 stinky chinky
install a wifi analyzer and check signal strength and SnR in the places upstairs compared to downstairs
on your phone*
my phone is an edge case though
empirical data will set you free
for whatever reason my phone gets great speeds everywhere
nothing else does
antennas suck on your other devices then
on your laptop
i've got a pci wifi card in my pc that i bought today
also get better antenna for your main AP
it gets like 150 which is acceptable
place as centrally as you can, otherwise you're SOL.
why not ethernet
assuming latency isn't an issue would an extender help all of the devices with shitty antennas and shit that's in the attic?
if you don't care about latency, in theory yes.
it's mostly media delivery shit that's a problem
it would help your crappy devices
ok
but
you have to make sure the devices your bridging with actually can service a signal
and not have the same problem your laptops are having
i might need to give some more context
in the past we had 30 down and 5 up, and i used an n600 and n300, the n300 in repeater mode to blanket the upstairs
maybe but i don't think so
everyone always got 30
now i've switched to 200 down 10 up
n600 --- buffalo AP?
