when i got mine the adhesive was weak and the power cable didn't work

I would say that the adhesive is pretty strong, not 3M grade but enough.

i might have gotten a shittier kit than yours but the adhesive couldn't even hold the strip onto the wall

to stick the strip on a very smooth surface at least

well, yeah I don't think this one would stick to the wall either

when i bought it the desc showed it stuck on the wall in most of the product images
