do those chromecasts work well in streaming media from a PC?

Works alright, but u need the right app and stuff

would be nice if I could stream whatever I got on my laptop downloaded

to the TV

im trying to find the device for that

I used mine mainly with phone

It should work no problem with laptop but at that point I don't see why not just hook up an HDMI cable instead

I got specifically for when I don't want to bring laptop with me

streaming from phone using VLC is ideal

You can stream a desktop to a Chromecast just using the chrome browser iirc
