also for those interested next step up from that (in 100+ eurodollar tiers) is pretty much "Jabe UD-1200" and from that "JND DI300" what are pretty much chinese JBC copies :D (unless you want to stay in Hakko World (<https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33031757424.html>) (and you can get mini station for JBC OR HAKKO tips from tindie for 100 <https://www.tindie.com/products/soguklehim/soldering-iron-controller-v32-for-jbc-t245c245/>)

@Tervy I'm pretty sure the one I bought is a legit 2.09 version from the official store. Apparently banggood flashed over 2.10 with "2.1s" on older models. 2.0 is apparently cheaper

2019-08-21 11:15:29 UTC

yeah what is a pump controller and buck converter

2019-08-21 11:28:30 UTC

like what do you mean by it in this context

2019-08-21 11:29:20 UTC

and by 2.01 you're referring to the PSU board right?

2019-08-21 11:33:04 UTC

yeah 2.01 as in hardware revision

2019-08-21 11:33:10 UTC

not as in firmware

2019-08-21 11:33:41 UTC

2.01 has heatsinks on the problem spots what 2.0 does not have for example

2019-08-21 11:37:40 UTC

i dunno the details just the thing i saw while i was evaluating it ksgers for myself :3

2019-08-21 11:37:52 UTC

@Tervy it's a good enough iron for the entry level though right? i seldom solder but i dont want some garbage with a potentiometer in the iron or some 2kg 5 year old station

2019-08-21 11:38:39 UTC

for sure its good, multi functions (Well it has menu and oled..) and certainly enough for hobbyist

2019-08-21 11:38:50 UTC

let alone for starters

2019-08-21 11:39:06 UTC

for that price its nearly impossible to beat unless you want portability of T100

2019-08-21 11:39:25 UTC

yeah T100 looked cool too but it's pricier i think

2019-08-21 11:39:27 UTC

by like 10 dollars

2019-08-21 11:39:28 UTC

could be wrong

2019-08-21 11:39:46 UTC

and T100 still needs that PSU

2019-08-21 11:40:02 UTC

compared to KSGER (if you brought the PSU model) has it built in

2019-08-21 11:40:17 UTC

the mini KSGER looks cute too but i dont have a brick lying around for it

2019-08-21 11:40:37 UTC

and finding correct barrel jacks is a pain i think

2019-08-21 11:40:51 UTC

yeah some people suggest mini version so you avoid "firehazard" tho then they go and order chinese PSU to it....

2019-08-21 11:40:54 UTC

like whats the idea

2019-08-21 11:40:57 UTC

lole

2019-08-21 11:41:16 UTC

average price for Yihua stations is like £30 for a 75W one and they're the oldschool type ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scvS2yeUH00 ), ksger cost me £35

2019-08-21 11:41:42 UTC

knife tip and "ILS" thin cone/needle type tip

2019-08-21 11:42:06 UTC

the handle is some Black one out of plastic, i think it's the slightly better one

2019-08-21 11:43:19 UTC

handles most likely are just preference thing

2019-08-21 11:44:36 UTC

i just dont want something excessively chunky and something that will melt

2019-08-21 11:44:53 UTC

blugh

2019-08-21 11:44:56 UTC

yeah you should get that from these :D

2019-08-21 11:45:28 UTC

this one sucks the most ass apparently

2019-08-21 11:45:33 UTC

regarding that video... JBC is around 400 and that hakko closer to 200

2019-08-21 11:45:53 UTC

yeah i know but he's just talking about the principle
dave even looked at a t100/t80 to my knowledge

2019-08-21 11:46:11 UTC

yeah but still quite difference in prices too

2019-08-21 11:47:09 UTC

Rossmann also talked about how a knockoff of a fx951 will thrash something using the old type like a Weller any day

2019-08-21 11:52:07 UTC

should I have added any other tips or just use Knife and ILS for now? @Tervy

2019-08-21 11:52:21 UTC

will be mostly working on electronics, small boards

2019-08-21 11:52:21 UTC

thats the question you only can answer
