The Germans could still have won the war, but the Japanese got greedy and overconfident in their estimate that they could defeat the British and American forces in the Far East and did not follow the German Grand Strategy which was to crush the USSR by a two-front attack: The German Panzers were to roll into the USSR from the west (which actually took place on June 22, 1941) and the Japanese Imperial Army was to attack Siberia from the east, which never took place.

The Japanese and Germans will never have cooperated, they became allies by circumstance because of their Political similarities, one wouldn't of defended for the other

This is seen when the Germans trained Chinese troops in the 1930's

And in certain situations, they were against each other

The Japanese feared a war with Germany because Japan feared Germany would take colonies in Asia

And the Soviets put a devastating defeat on the Japanese in Manchuria
