I think it will be a very intresting disscussion. Question? What are the apriori assumption we make about reality, and can we know anyhting for sure?

Our biological framework allows us to have narrow constraints on the amount of viable interpretations of the world that do not result in undue suffering and our demise.

Well this is evident! 🙂 what im trying to get at is within each of us what knowlage do we take for granted like the video said "space" what about moral proclimations and which specific ones

2020-08-25 17:25:12 UTC

for example i think a necessary trancedental catagory is freewill

Religion anthropomorphizes the known world, not with hands and feet but with our inner moral codes and innate sense of justice—a type of projection of our inner psyche on to the fundamental nature of reality. We project our inner sense of justice by believing that we need to atone for our cosmic mishaps, with verbal apologies, on a specific holiday, or at a particular time of year. In the same way, we should apologize to humans, find the right time, and use the right words. The anthropomorphization of the universe: turning it into a God with human wants, human needs, and human proclivities, like justice, fairness, family, property, duty, and purpose.

Any ideas?

@therealdandan I don’t quite understand what you’re trying to say. And that’s probably just my fault. Are you just trying to give the reason there is religion?

2020-08-27 16:45:31 UTC

Im saying the same way ancient societies created gods in their image, so do modern religions by projecting their inner psyche on the workings of the universe.

2020-08-27 16:48:59 UTC

Thats what Jung thought to. That the gods came from our imagination and were projected outside to whatbwe did not understand and that when we understood the unknown, the gods went back inside of our imaginations. And when we go back into our imagination, thats the same motif as rescuing the dead father from the belly of the whale or belly of the beast.

2020-08-27 16:51:56 UTC

@therealdandan by modern religion do you mean like Christianity

2020-08-27 16:53:19 UTC

scientology, mormonsism, Judaism- modern day version, etc

2020-08-27 16:53:25 UTC

also christianity

2020-08-27 16:53:46 UTC

people dont need religion

2020-08-27 16:54:06 UTC

but they wont last long without one

2020-08-27 16:54:14 UTC

2020-08-27 16:54:23 UTC

There it is

2020-08-27 16:54:41 UTC

Why do you say people need myths

2020-08-27 16:54:48 UTC

they dont

2020-08-27 16:54:58 UTC

myths are things people couldnt explain

2020-08-27 16:55:03 UTC

and overreacted

2020-08-27 16:55:08 UTC

Demonstrate that they won't last long without one.

2020-08-27 16:55:30 UTC

2020-08-27 16:55:43 UTC

I cant demonstrate

2020-08-27 16:55:52 UTC

True

2020-08-27 16:55:56 UTC

So why should we believe you?

2020-08-27 16:56:10 UTC

its not about that

2020-08-27 16:56:14 UTC

youll see it

2020-08-27 16:56:21 UTC

the reason i think people need myths is less on an indevidual level but ona sociotal level

2020-08-27 16:56:23 UTC

America is really the only one nation not based around religion and he could argue that it hasn’t been long enough to tell

2020-08-27 16:56:28 UTC

How will we see it?

2020-08-27 16:56:49 UTC

2020-08-27 16:56:59 UTC

2020-08-27 16:57:02 UTC

Look at the Greeks

2020-08-27 16:57:03 UTC

See what?

2020-08-27 16:57:11 UTC

West colapsing

2020-08-27 16:57:35 UTC

Because of atheism

2020-08-27 16:57:39 UTC

Can you demonstrate that if that happens, it's because of lack of religion?
