@stefanon You must have been great at acting. I don't have it in me. My husband and I had someone working for us, using a fraudulent ss#. He was trying to hide his income so he wouldn't have to pay child support (reason uncovered - I don't know if it wasn't something more serious). I called the department and they told me there was nothing they could do about it, even though I knew it didn't belong to him. We couldn't fire him for that particular thing, but we found other ways (to keep him from claiming unemployment). It took awhile AND he knew his time was limited. I can't stand liars, cheats and slacks.

@Agent 34 Wow! Its hard sometimes! I understand where you're coming from! If you hadn't done anything they probably would've tried to come after you later! I hate dealing with the beaucracy of the governments. Our company is small but we do work in 18 different states. There is so much corruption in many of these states. The worst so far I have to deal with is Illinois. They create these stupid laws & regulations.

@stefanon And they know they have the upper hand. We sold the Dec after 9/11. The revenue stream was good, but the stress wasn't worth it. We were a small corp., too.
9/11 made me reassess my priorities and I convinced hubby to get out. He obliged, and went back working for a company he worked for earlier. I freelanced for awhile, but stopped when my mom and dad needed me. Never went back to corporate America (which I think sucks - pardon my bluntness). I'd rather be a poor ol' country gal... maybe not totally happy, but certainly content.
@Agent 34 It is stressful owning a business. Most of our people have been with us for 20 years. They are loyal and great people. After Obummer came into office we had to downsize quite a bit. We just couldnt get people to work for us when they could stay home with their welfare and Obummer phones. My husband has had some health issues. He can do a lot of the managing of the business from home and his personal secretary is awesome. I stil work at the office but I have backed down on hours since my husband has had issues. Im a small town midwest girl and I do love the simple life.
