Members of the National Institute of Migration organized the entry of a handful of Central Americans through the front of the gate of the international bridge, while another hooded group assaulted authorities.
Due to the violent events, one Central American man was killed by the impact of rubber bullets. Both sides reported injuries.
In a public address, Interior Minister Alfonso Navarrete Prida rejected the manifestations of violence that occurred at the border and reaffirmed that migrants can only enter the country if they respect the laws.
He indicated that, in the violent acts, the Mexican policemen did not carry firearms or plastic weapons, as verified by CNDH visitors and non-governmental organizations, while some of the aggressors did, in addition to Molotov cocktails.
He added that Mexico shared information with the governments of Guatemala and Honduras so that aggressors were detained and made available to authorities.
This is the third migrant caravan to travel to the US in October. In addition, a fourth group left this Sunday from the capital of El Salvador.
