An analysis i found on an Italian geopolitical page
#NagornoKarabakh: this is indeed interesting (but not surprising, for those who know the dynamics of the EU).
After a phone call between the foreign ministers of #Greece and #Armenia, the diplomacy of Athens issued an official statement which reads that:
"Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias reaffirmed the strong bonds of friendship with Armenia, condemned the loss of life and expressed readiness to provide support for an immediate de-escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh"
Is something missing from the press release? Yes, Greek internet users and media strongly criticized the statement because
1) no condemnation of the actions of #Azerbaijan and #Turkey
2) no clear stance (Athens supports who? From reason has who?), A deliberately vague communication style that bends to different interpretations
3) Armenia has always expressed direct support for Greece, organizing a summit in Yerevan in June to which the Greek defense minister was invited. Topic: Tensions in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean. Conclusion: Armenia will not hesitate to support Greece in a possible conflict.
Detractors argue that now is the time to reciprocate and Greece is staying away, when it needs Armenian help, it should not be surprised if it does not come.
