@tattered flag @HoosierPatriot(USA) incorrect there is no way to hide people other then blocking them but that only works for the person who blocked them,

a user1 can block another user2 in youtube then that user1 will no longer see posts from user2 it does not effect anyone else besides user1.


wrenches can only ban or time out users. (and those are all logged internaly)

@imig... I understand how it works between streamers... I'm an avid fan. What I'm asking is what results when a wrench "hides" a streamer. How does someone know they've been placed in "time out" or when they've been banned. Are they notified in either case? Obviously, if someone is banned they permanently lose access... If they're in time out, do they lose posting privileges temporarily or can they post but no one sees it?

wrenches cannot 'hide' people that isnt one of the options they have.

they only have 'ban' or 'timeout'
if they ban them then they cant post into the chat at all ever again

if they time them out then they cant post into the chat for like ten seconds

there is no option that lets them post but hides their post

but i will say its entirely possible youtube is itself shadow banning people in that way, but of course we would not have anyway of knowing if thats happening

me an two other wrenches plus pam all went about investigating this stuff since you asked.

turns out the way i said it above is how it *used to be*

youtube has now changed the ban function, renamed it to 'hide' so we no longer have a ban function, and made it so the user is not notified theyve been hiden, and indeed they can continue posting without being aware no one can see them, for example

light mode and dark mode are from two different users on two different pc's, darkmode is "undetered fighters" pc
