Across from the village of Old Harbor was the island called Sitkalidak. We had a fish camp there for full betting sockeye salmon. We slept in big canvas camp tents on the Meadows above the beaches
The bears would wander across the little hills above us and the dogs were goi g nuts
I slept with that 44 on my chest
oh my goodness
was this only certain times of the year?
Never got a real night's sleep and the next morning we saw how close the bears got to our two big tents

After that we always anchored the big boats offshore
