at first we were in a panic when the power went out, i just loaded the fridge and freezer with food and we were biting our nails about it, i called the electric company and they said the power will be on within two hours, they kept to it, all the food remained preserved!

@Gailm i have looked into generator for back emergancies for fridge food and heat , basic , and wow it is expensive to buy one and the acommedations to be able to install it

We wanted to get a used generator from a friend

He's selling his house

But the sale fell through

I guess if and when he sells it, we can get the generator

@Gailm from what i hear that is the best way to go when in areas that get storms or white outs in winter

Some generators can be very noisy

Gas gen's for short term use and diesel for extended or constant use

I guess this one is not so bad

We have a smaller one, but it hasn't been fired up in a long time

if we end up getting a noisy generator, we will find a way to put it in a location where you can only hear a distant humming sound
