Honestly...knowing what you're up against critter wise is probably a major factor in how and what to use to combat your predators

Soooo...moral of the story,
Critters can have any part of the property but my gardens or greenhouses . I quit giving a crap...lol

The dog watched me and just got lucky and caught it when it exposed itself openly at the entrance

I don't think we have gophers in Virginia, but planty of ground hogs or wood chucks however you call them

My dog thought he was hot chit to and he knew it

Trying to grow a garden and have a few fruit trees on a farm is a whole lot different than if you live in sort of suburbia
