Also the viet Cong basically almost fell apart (if I remember correctly) after they were not held to disciplin and ended up slaughtering vietnamese natives, leading to people simply deserting or even turning on the army itself. Breakdown of order is a natural result of a lack of codified conduct

It was something that we were tought in school as one of the most major defeats of the VC, they literally took back some city, and then disciplin just broke down adn shit got out of control, after that it was all downhill
