It should be left up to corporations.

2018-11-16 19:31:22 UTC

There will always be a platform that advocates for free speech.

2018-11-16 19:31:36 UTC

Just because it is not mainstream however, doesn't undermine it.

2018-11-16 20:08:39 UTC

That makes free speech niche and thus useless

2018-11-16 20:09:17 UTC

The advantage of free speech is not to watch porn or produce loli, it is to allow people to know whether those in power are being truthful to them or not.
If you make it so a person speaking truth has to wait for a decade as he gets enough viewership on a small platform, you have already lost in achieving that goal

2018-11-16 20:23:23 UTC

government treading is more harmful than corp treading

2018-11-16 20:23:41 UTC

crop treading isn't even treading you can choose to use alternatives

2018-11-16 20:27:10 UTC

nationalizing something like youtube would be even worse depending on government

2018-11-16 20:27:40 UTC

no profit, costs tax dollars to maintain

2018-11-16 20:28:02 UTC

then they decide what's offensive

2018-11-16 20:28:06 UTC

they can censor too

2018-11-16 20:28:23 UTC

where is the QOTD

2018-11-16 20:29:12 UTC

also nationalizing a source of media counts as suppression of free speech. youtube can decide who they want and that's them expressing how they want their website to be

2018-11-16 20:55:03 UTC

Just ignore anyone that says anyone says anything about them on the Internet let Free Speech Roam mofo

2018-11-16 20:55:55 UTC

If the president wants to block someone let him block them same thing if someone wants to say anything else or do anything else everyone needs to calm down and relax

2018-11-16 20:56:36 UTC

Also you should have one channel for quote of the day no one else is authorized to message on and another for the response thumbs up if you agree

2018-11-16 20:58:41 UTC

I guarantee you if Clinton or bush or Obama blocked somebody for saying stuff against them the media would not attack them

2018-11-16 20:59:09 UTC

Hypothetically if Twitter was as big now at their Administrations

2018-11-16 21:23:07 UTC

whats the question

2018-11-16 21:26:17 UTC

@WAR @Selous What is the best way to ensure a fair and free speech internet for all, or should the internet be let loose to corporations?

2018-11-16 21:27:15 UTC

regulate international companies to ensure the same rights as those in the constitution

2018-11-16 21:38:30 UTC

Let me tell you how

2018-11-16 21:40:39 UTC

Organize, a great white strike. In a certain year. For instance 2020 we will all strike in a certain way, first of all we need evidence / propaganda to show the world. Second of all we need a couple of head figures who will help spread. And last, people to fix the head figures.

2018-11-16 21:41:37 UTC

Search the term strike, not everyone knows what I mean.

2018-11-16 21:54:04 UTC

@Doctor Anon The best way to ensure free and fair speech is to take everything that the rich own and redistribute it to the middle and poor class

2018-11-16 22:19:14 UTC

lol ban. ^

2018-11-16 22:57:29 UTC

@WAR I'm just being edgy

2018-11-16 23:01:35 UTC

who deleted my message?

2018-11-16 23:08:55 UTC

I would support a single act that makes the first ammendment valid on social media platforms
but I also fear this might open the pandora's box when it comes to regulating private companies

what, a fairness doctrine but for posting

2018-11-16 23:13:40 UTC

@Pino Sinatra either that or demonopolize social media

2018-11-16 23:13:56 UTC

@Pino Sinatra that's Americano

2018-11-16 23:14:17 UTC

We don't have first amendments

2018-11-16 23:14:59 UTC

alright, but where do you think this and most of the major social media platforms come from?

2018-11-16 23:15:23 UTC

2018-11-16 23:17:14 UTC

back to my point,I wonder how governments might end up like "well, now we've made social media comply with our laws, what's stopping us from requiring users to use their SS to register?"

2018-11-16 23:17:42 UTC

China sort of does that already
