no because they understand the president today isn’t the president tommorow and that these are small tariffs

2018-09-12 19:43:07 UTC

The point of the trade war is no one wins

2018-09-12 19:43:54 UTC

But every administration has put/had tariffs

2018-09-12 19:44:02 UTC

We put some on washing machines in the obama era

2018-09-12 19:44:13 UTC

We did it again under trump

2018-09-12 19:44:26 UTC

The tarrifs implemented are often done wrongly

2018-09-12 19:44:41 UTC

With no immediate plans to boost American production of said product

2018-09-12 19:44:47 UTC

Which is why they often fail

2018-09-12 19:45:19 UTC

They implement tarrifs and expect companies to start reacting immediately and boost production

2018-09-12 19:45:44 UTC

It has to be nudged to the companies to begin production just shortly before tarrifs are to be implemented

2018-09-12 19:46:20 UTC

We don’t need to produce more to counter a tariff per say - nor do businesses think like that necessarily. Prices will adjust to compensate sure, but in this case we put it on a certain kind of washer that meets a certain conservation target of water

2018-09-12 19:46:31 UTC

The idea is we innovate and do the same thing with our companies that

2018-09-12 19:46:34 UTC

*

2018-09-12 19:46:40 UTC

We did the same with solar panels

2018-09-12 19:47:02 UTC

Usually we do tarrifs on health hazards like tobbacco

2018-09-12 19:47:23 UTC

Or something we don’t have a good technological edge in per say

2018-09-12 19:48:12 UTC

Prices won't rise

2018-09-12 19:48:14 UTC

It’s not a question of right or wrongly applied - our government isn’t filled with idiots

2018-09-12 19:48:24 UTC

If done correctly

2018-09-12 19:48:30 UTC

And in the case they do, so what?

2018-09-12 19:48:53 UTC

Is foreign robbing and abusing of our nation's worth power prices?

2018-09-12 19:49:05 UTC

the tarrifs are done correctly - the question is if it’s a good tarrif lol

2018-09-12 19:49:18 UTC

There is no right or wrong way of doing such an action

2018-09-12 19:49:40 UTC

Oil, Material, Raws, steel, etc should all be tarrifed

2018-09-12 19:49:44 UTC

But production is just one consideration for a counter measures

2018-09-12 19:49:56 UTC

no that would be ridiculous - we import about as much as we export

2018-09-12 19:49:59 UTC

We’re a service economy

2018-09-12 19:50:09 UTC

we do this so we hold a constant reserve

2018-09-12 19:50:30 UTC

and by import and export amounts I mean in goods

2018-09-12 19:50:32 UTC

We should boost steel and material production

2018-09-12 19:50:34 UTC

Not in the value of goods

2018-09-12 19:50:40 UTC

So we net export

2018-09-12 19:50:54 UTC

U.S needs to have a net export

2018-09-12 19:50:54 UTC

Why??? Confused

2018-09-12 19:51:25 UTC

I don’t see the logic behind a net export - we are a service economy if we run let’s say a trade defecit and import more

2018-09-12 19:51:33 UTC

In order to sustain ourselves and not be influenced/blackmailed by foreign governments and corporations

2018-09-12 19:51:34 UTC

that’s more services probably exported

2018-09-12 19:51:42 UTC

Oh that’s capitalism pal

2018-09-12 19:51:54 UTC

That will happen no matter what

2018-09-12 19:51:58 UTC

Globalized Capitalism is retarded

2018-09-12 19:52:16 UTC

It's a detriment to nationality
