I'd argue that being gay isn't a choice, really... I mean it's a choice to hid it, but by sexual attraction, it isn't. I'd say that you generate a sexuality when you hit puberty, due to it being the event where all your hormones are going and you're thinking about sex, etc.

Generally I would assume that the party leader runs for president but it may not be the case for every party leader, regardless, their roles are quite different.

simply because they were already voted in because of party majority vote
