I think it's going to be far more about candidate vs candidate, and somewhat about party vs party

2018-01-12 03:59:52 UTC

not true,

2018-01-12 03:59:55 UTC

to be fair,

2018-01-12 04:00:12 UTC

all midterm elections are treated as a referendum of the sitting president and the party in power

2018-01-12 04:00:21 UTC

remember in 2014?

2018-01-12 04:00:31 UTC

"Soccer moms" are prevalent in the Midwest though, so I doubt its about who the people are more than the party they are currently in

2018-01-12 04:00:37 UTC

Obama and his party got shlonged across the country

2018-01-12 04:01:07 UTC

I think you could make the argument that the USA is still generally center-right, and that 2006 was an anomaly

2018-01-12 04:01:51 UTC

neverTrumpers will still reliably vote for the GOP candidates in their district

2018-01-12 04:01:56 UTC

Well, there was a resurgence of Tea Partiers at that time. Idk if there is going to be a progressive/populist resurgence this year

2018-01-12 04:02:00 UTC

Maybe there is, IDK

2018-01-12 04:02:28 UTC

and Trump democrats in the rust belt can be influenced to vote against Democrat candidates

2018-01-12 04:03:00 UTC

Not if the Democrats are moderate Democrats though. Donnelly for instance is probably a more right-wing Democrat. Same with Manchin and Heitkamp

2018-01-12 04:03:08 UTC

the GOP is going to spend a lot more money this year compared to the special elections last year, and they still managed to win most special elections

2018-01-12 04:03:32 UTC

the only real victory the Democrats have was in Alabama, and that took a hell of a lot of money along with 24/7 pedo allegations running in the media

2018-01-12 04:04:47 UTC

I don't understand why Democrats think that just because Alabama nearly went to Jones that somehow this is a referendum against Trump. Jones nearly won against a Pedo

2018-01-12 04:04:55 UTC

it's good for us,

2018-01-12 04:05:06 UTC

the Democrats will think they can win anywhere and with anyone

2018-01-12 04:05:09 UTC

I mean, Jones did win

2018-01-12 04:05:16 UTC

Moore was the one who 'nearly won'

2018-01-12 04:05:18 UTC

Barely won***

2018-01-12 04:05:21 UTC

despite the pedo allegations

2018-01-12 04:05:21 UTC

My bad

2018-01-12 04:05:29 UTC

they're going to run radical democrats in places like Texas and waste millions

2018-01-12 04:05:30 UTC

yeah, that's the thing. Alabama gives them false confidence

2018-01-12 04:05:42 UTC

do you know about the website predictit?

2018-01-12 04:05:49 UTC

the comments section is dominated by leftists for some reason

2018-01-12 04:06:03 UTC

(I'm not sure why they like to gamble...I'd have thought it would have been more right wing because of that)

2018-01-12 04:06:07 UTC

Actually, the problem with Beto's campaign is that it isn't as funded as much as Ted Cruz's campaign. Many people don't know O Rourke, but a lot of them know Ted Cruz.

2018-01-12 04:06:37 UTC

Democrats know very well that Texas is a goner and are not aiding them as much as the Reps are with Cruz

2018-01-12 04:06:40 UTC

people in the comments section are circlejerking about how the Democrats caan take Texas

2018-01-12 04:06:57 UTC

be back in a while, I'll have more data when I return

2018-01-12 04:07:14 UTC

and about how "deep red Alabama turning blue means the other deep red areas can go blue, like Mississippi"

2018-01-12 04:07:27 UTC

As a leftist, I know it's not true. Ted Cruz isn't as hated by Texas as Roy Moore was in Alabama

2018-01-12 04:07:45 UTC

I think they're butthurt after a year of constant defeat, so they're clinging desperately to their victory in Alabama in December

2018-01-12 04:08:08 UTC

what kind of leftist are you btw

2018-01-12 04:08:22 UTC

I mean, two of the governorships went towards Democrats this year (although they are neoliberal corporatists)

2018-01-12 04:08:29 UTC

Just a regular progressive

2018-01-12 04:09:04 UTC

'regular progressive' in 2018 is different from 'regular progressive' in 2013...a lot has changed since then

2018-01-12 04:09:18 UTC

I'm both fiscally and socially liberal.
