They have a few points about how science is hard and really insular
And that's fair
There’s nothing wrong with finding it hard
I like most of them when I talk to them as people but I'll have to criticise them for being dishonest
Science is hard
But the correct reaction is “let me go and make the effort to learn it” not, “all of science is wrong because I don’t understand it”
But just because you don't get it doesn't mean it's a lie
And if they say that then they need to be called out on it
Oh god
That pic
How many fucking times
I mean I don't know how gravity works, I have to have faith in the scientific method. The difference is I understand the way the scientific method works and the inbuilt accountability
Every so called debunking I’ve seen has revolved around completely misunderstanding it
There is no connection between shape of the earth and evolution
“If gravity is real why don’t people get attracted to each other on the street” etc
Lmao
That’s a classic Derek one there
I got attracted to people on the street, it's just because I'm really lonely though
Gravity is complex, nat but the most basic concepts of it are not that hard, like you know, it being dependent on mass
And if you don't get it then science probably isn't for you and that's fine but then you also don't get to call people liars and retards just because they understand something you don't
If you draw a simple free body diagram you’ll see that having weight and being able to fly aren’t mutually exclusive
It’s sad
It's terrifying that only arguements against gravity are "why does a helium balloon float" and why do people don't just smash into each other
We need to make science more inclusive and understandable, to get rid of the idea it's just white dudes in labcoats. That's what will help this issue of being against science
You can’t teach someone who doesn’t want to learn
It is inclusive..
It just takes effort to learn like literally everything else
It’s almost as though it’s taught in literally every school on the planet
Nah you need to make it relevant to people
Also if anyone thinks it's just white dudes in labcoats, they need a reality check
It is relevant
You can't force feed
If you want to learn you can
But you can make it easier and disguise the learning
Like how documentaries have stories and aren't just reading Wikipedia pages
Like literally everything else? Yeah we are finding better ways to make it understand to as much people as possible
You can make something simpler nat but you can't change how someone thinks
They think the whole of science is bad and devilish and won't make any effort whatsoever to understand it
You can't help that no matter how simple you make it
Like someone who said schools should teach you to use critical thinking and the thing is, it does
