ok so how did the ancient greeks and egyptians observe it

2019-05-02 20:28:04 UTC

The Egyptians used a revision of the Eratosthenes experiment using obelisks at certain points and distances measured out. I say revision for lack of a better term, because to the best of my knowledge, they never met the man nor knew of his experiments

i just told u it works on a flat earth with a local sun same as a far sun on a sphere

2019-05-02 20:29:05 UTC

They calculated the circumference of the earth, much like the prior experiment, reached the same number, and found a curve

2019-05-02 20:29:20 UTC

ok

2019-05-02 20:35:15 UTC

sounds legit

Shadow angles would be different on a flat earth with a close sun vs a spherical earth. The shadows angles would have a consistent relationship with distance, say, every x miles the sun angle changes by y degrees, while on a flat earth, the farther away from the sun you are, the more distance you have to travel in order to have the shadows increase length by a certain amount.
Basically, with two shadows, sphere and flat are the same, more than two, they are different.

The sun would also never set on the flat earth unless it went below it.

Huh

2019-05-02 23:02:31 UTC

Lol

2019-05-02 23:07:09 UTC

neil degrasse tyson said eratosthenes experiment would worl the same on a sphere earth with a far sun and a flat earth with a close sun

2019-05-02 23:07:14 UTC

imma just take his word for it

2019-05-02 23:11:37 UTC

Mike: I am a hollowed earther
Also mike: flat earth is a physically proven fact
🤔

2019-05-02 23:13:32 UTC

that neil telling u how it is

2019-05-02 23:13:35 UTC

thats

2019-05-02 23:14:32 UTC

She said they did a revision of the eratosthenes experiment, meaning it's a different experiment

2019-05-02 23:14:44 UTC

He literally said it doesn't work on a flat earth, lol

2019-05-02 23:14:53 UTC

Three wells,

2019-05-02 23:14:57 UTC

he said it works on a flat or sphere earth

2019-05-02 23:15:04 UTC

earatosthenes only used 2 wells so

2019-05-02 23:15:13 UTC

their was no 3 wells in his experiment

2019-05-02 23:15:35 UTC

And the point is, with a third, flat earth fails.

2019-05-02 23:15:40 UTC

are u sure

2019-05-02 23:15:49 UTC

Yes

2019-05-02 23:15:54 UTC

well maybe maybe not idk

2019-05-02 23:16:07 UTC

i jsut know the 2 wells in 200 bc would work either way so

2019-05-02 23:16:10 UTC

they werent sure back then

2019-05-02 23:16:17 UTC

they didnt know

2019-05-02 23:16:24 UTC

since it coulda been both

2019-05-02 23:16:32 UTC

when did they do it with 3 wells ?

2019-05-02 23:16:41 UTC

So?
It is 2019, we now know

2019-05-02 23:16:46 UTC

no we dont lol

2019-05-02 23:16:53 UTC

u think u knoipw

2019-05-02 23:16:59 UTC

u just think u know

2019-05-02 23:17:23 UTC

Yes, we do. We literally have sun angle data from all around the world.

2019-05-02 23:17:41 UTC

We aren't primitive like the ancients, we know how the sun works

2019-05-02 23:18:06 UTC

that is debateable

2019-05-02 23:18:32 UTC

we know how the sun works

2019-05-02 23:18:40 UTC

u are sure ?

2019-05-02 23:18:54 UTC

Yes, in terms of its positioning around the world

2019-05-02 23:18:56 UTC

i wish i could be as sure as u are in all this
