I'm guessing they didn't even consider the shape
they wrote stuff on paper and created a back story
in the original Arena you could travel to any of the various continents
the first skyrim, everything was procedurally generated
and pretty much the same besides locations

if your intelligent that is the primary criteria for being a professor, along with being clear and concise and being able to research fast and type fast

free software lets me share stuff
most of the original maps were on flat expensive paper for arena, not cloth, ultima gave cloth maps for their world
nothing was spherical., doesn't mean is wasn't intended to be on a glolbe, just that was the format used
I use steam shareX that is free, make sure you virus test anything you download from them before using it
so I came across an interesting video
basically it was saying that the horizons are flat and google earth shows a curve that isn't experienced in reality
their google model also doesn't fall away like we would experience on a ball
shouldn't come to eye level at the ground, should fall away sooner
