The way art is in general, most goes unnoticed while the artist is alive

is that really true?

there are certainly some examples of that

but it seems to me that most great artists were appreciated in their lifetimes as well

there may have been a lull and then rediscovery

but they wouldn't be completely unsung in life

and usually the ones who were had reasons like dying early etc.

or being poorfags/crazy
