The idea of asians as ant people who get along is pretty flawed

the price of reduced individuality and self direction is resort to short termism when authority is suspended

while increased individuality and self direction has this price in western societies when authority is present

so with euros (lets say) you could get more outlaw kind of people in a stable government, but also more people who do the right thing without any prompting or expectation

whereas chinese, less outlaw, more apparent (authority and shame induced) conscientiousness, but less people who would do the right thing as above

hence some of the truly cruel seeming and alienating episodes one sometimes hears about out of china
