It's all good.
Have you ever been stared at as if you were a threat?
Called a terrorist at airports?
Had a knife pulled on you?
The first yeah, the second question, no.
Been pulled over for "random checks" at airports?
Yes.
Every time?
No
I've been pulled over for "random checks" every time I've been in a US airport.
I'm not even 18 yet.
I've been pulled over since the age of 4, when I first started making trips to India
I guess you want me to ask you what's the color of your skin.
I'll tell you
I'm brown
Hence the whole "terrorist" thing
I am brown too, mixed.
I've been told to "speak American" more times than I can count, even when I was speaking to a person who didn't know English
Maybe you got lucky
But racial tension isn't manufactured
The fear that people have of a brown person?
But keep on
That's racial tension
The fear people feel when a black person walks onto their train car? That's racial tension
The black guy who hates Puerto Ricans in my community?
Racial tension
Racial tension isn't "whites vs minorities"
It's *everyone*
And it's natural.
Alright, here's my point. I think I can make the distinctions now.
I'll give you that there is a "racial tension". What I am telling you that is NOT true, is that this "racial tension" you are speaking about is ***Natural***. It is ***artificial***.
Racism, as it has been told to us, *is* manufactured
While I can appreciate your personal resonance with racial tension, it is only your experience and dies not mean that’s what everyone else experiences. Now who is making assumptions.
There's a "racial tension", but is NOT Natural; it is ARTIFICIALLY made by the media. That's my point.
Racial tension exists, "racial tension" does not, is that better?
Elaborate.
The racial tension is blown out of proportion. The media is feeding it.
Yes.
What the media calls racial tension is fake, yes, because it calls into play many things that don't truly exist, like "microagressions". But the vast majority of people don't care about that.
The media is *trying* to blow the existing, real, racial tension out of proportion, yes
But that doesn't mean that racial tension doesn't exist on its own
