the cel shading is quite well done, but the whole thing doesn't look anywhere close to 2D
??
look at old Guilty Gears if you want to see the diff
Old Guilty Gears were pixel sprites though
When I mean sprites there, I mean like Skullgirls sprites
Where they're hand drawn and everything
They did a great job in skullgirls
I love it
yeah
Mhmm
But yeah the Xrd models are amazing, they even manage to exaggerate features where every other company fails to with 3d models
Like, compare the difference in Street Fighter 3rd Strike and in SFV
In terms of character movements and stuff, especially in terms of how they react to being hit
If you compare the same things between new and old GG's, it still looks great
there's a lot of cel shaded games that did the trick quite well
Ni no Kuni in another genre was well done too
back in the days, Jet Set Radio was really well done for its time too
now this fail to impress me. It's good looking, but I don't have the "woaw" effect that this older games gave me
It may sound like an excuse, but it looks better in motion
what about tekken?
Tekken doesnt have a 2D sprite counterpart
to be fair, they adapted to the 3D much better than SNK x)
KoF:Maximum Impact still give me goosebumps when I think about it. It was fucking ugly
Hahah yeah
KoF14 looks much better
But it has the same problems as SFV
yeah :/
The 3D models are very lifeless and dull
Which is what I mean is the big deal with GG's
They stylized them so perfectly that it gives the illusion of almost being 2D
They pull off things that normally arent capable of being done in 3D models
that's not the only problem I have with this games
too many camera changes
that break the flow of the fight for me
In GG?
nah, KoF14 and SFV
Ah, yeah
But I havent seen that in 14 personally
old SF and KoF didn't had that since... you know... they were 2D games lol
Yeah
